SH: You lost a lot of firepower in Barbarouses, Solorzano, plus the promptings of McKay in midfield. Are there still plenty of goals in this Roar outfit?
AP: No doubt. Whilst Kosta and Sol did score goals, they were shared around last term and remember, they came through overall team play rather than just the individual players. With Matty, we missing our skipper which isn easy, especially so late in the preseason, but we confident that we have players that can step up to replace all of them.
AP: I got to say from our point of view it's had zero impact. We were working within the constraints of budgets last year as well, and we didn have a marquee player, so nothing has changed. AP: Issey is a good technical player, he plays in attacking roles, either wide or central. He pretty durable and has been consistent over the last few years in Denmark. He the kind of guy who will fit in well, he mobile, a good oneonone dribbler, and we are hoping he have the same sort of impact as Thomas Broich.

He been really good, an experienced international, who is very calm, good technically, and likes to play out from the back. SH: Are you looking forward to the Asian challenge from a coaching perspective?
AP: It a fantastic challenge. We want to play the same way there that we do here even though that can be risky. We not going to be defensive. We want to see if we can outplay the best JLeague and KLeague clubs, particularly at home, by taking the game to them. We won know where we at unless we challenge ourselves. Everything we do is geared towards game day, and it all done within the context of the team style and shape. We are on a similar path this preseason with a heavy emphasis on structure and team play, rather than fitness.
SH: Which other teams do you feel will be challenging for the title this season?
AP: I believe the whole level will go up again. All the clubs have realised that they have to work harder, and a lot of the clubs have started their preseason earlier, and have spent lots of time on recruitment. I expect it to be even noone will run away with it, and the top six will be hotly contested.
Of the rest, the Mariners will be up there. They had very little change from last year in terms of personnel, and they played their best football towards the end of the season, so I expect them to keep improving. Adelaide have recruited well. The big thing for them is how do they gel? Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC will also feel the need to be up there challenging.
SH: What are your expectations for Brisbane Roar this season?
AP: No different from last year. Our number one target is to play better than last season.
